Mark Van Drunen

Mark Van Drunen assumes a vital role at Ownership Advisors by his proactive nature and compassion for all who walk through his door. He values working with families who see wealth as a means to an end rather than the end itself. With more than 20 years of experience in helping grow and transfer wealth to family and charities, he aims to engage across generations in creative ways and seeks to help others beat the 90% failure rate experienced through traditional planning. He firmly believes that successful families prioritize generosity and make wise wealth decisions that create a positive impact now and into the future.

Mark has a rich background in finance and entrepreneurship. He has participated in numerous startups, including building an inner-city job training program for at-risk youth early in his career. Later he became the co-founder and CFO for, the first online data management tool for political campaigns, which grew from $0 to $2 million in sales in less than seven years. Prior to joining Ownership Advisors in 2007, Mark was the head of estate and financial planning for the largest independent brokerage firm in the U.S. (as reported by Financial Planning magazine, June 1996-2019, based on total revenue.). Most recently, he worked as a bank trust officer for a large local bank managing more than $170 million.

Mark and his wife Sarah live in Hudson and enjoy spending time with their two daughters, one son, and extended family. He and Sarah are very active, enjoy exercising, and are still trying to find the rare day in Northeast Ohio that is ideal for biking. He previously served as treasurer on the board of Cornerstone Community School, and currently serves as treasurer for Reformed Forum, a podcast ministry, and as an elder at his local church. He also leads a small Bible study.
